Arsenal vs. West Ham United
Location: Emirates Stadium, London
Both of these sides come into this game winless and needing a result, so I think this will be a competitive game. As far as final result, Arsenal come into this game as heavy favorites in a game projected to yield 3-4 goals.
Arsenal has had some growing pains with new manager Unai Emery, it was obvious last week in some defensive breakdowns. They did have a superb fightback to level the score at 2-2 before eventually succumbing to defeat, and despite the media, Petr Cech made some nice plays in goal for them. Even though he conceded 3, he still managed to walk away with 8 saves. They have also had some exceptional wide play that ended up with both Iwobi and Mkhitaryan scoring in the eventual loss to Chelsea.
I think this West Ham side is underperforming, and it may just be the multitude of transfers they’ve brought in (more here). I haven’t seen anywhere near the contributions I had expected for this side, and I’m hoping it’s merely that they haven’t all settled in yet. However, given their past two performances I think they are definitely coming in on the backs of poor form. I think the effort and work rate will be there but the manager is still trying to identify the right squad to fit his playing style (and players).
