Chelsea vs. Arsenal
Location: Stamford Bridge, London
Chelsea come into this match as sizable favorites at home against an Arsenal team that was soundly beaten by Man City. Goal projections are currently hovering right about 3.
Chelsea soundly beat their opponent in Huddersfield in matchday 1, but I’m not sure that’s really something to write home about. We have Huddersfield listed as team 20 (out of 20) in our Power Rankings. I expect Arsenal to be a much more difficult opponent, we have Arsenal ranked 9th. Morata has looked poor, in fact, we posted a comparison between what Diego Costa has done since he last scored (spoiler alert: it’s not good for Chelsea). I do expect Hazard to make his return to the starting XI which should have a big impact on Chelsea’s attacking movement.
While Arsenal got shelled by Man City, I’m not sure that says much (if anything) about their future prospects, City has been just that dominant recently. It definitely didn’t help their cause that most of them was generally very poor. I don’t think that’s something opponents should count on, and while I see an improvement in this match — I’m not sure it’ll be enough to knock off a Chelsea squad that should see a sizable resurgence from getting Hazard back.
