Matchday 3: Southampton v Leicester City

Disclaimer: This series is examining the games days prior to matchday, there is always the possibility for injuries, coach selections, etc. They may be updated to reflect most accurate starting lineup.
Southampton vs. Leicester City
Location: St. Mary’s Stadium
In a home match, the Saints come into the match slight favorites in what’s expected to be a very low scoring game, with only two to three goals expected to be scored.
The Saints come into this match off of a high even without points, as Danny Ings started his first time (back) with the club and recorded his first goal. While the rest of the team hasn’t been able to put it all together for a full ninety minutes yet, Alex McCarthy is trying to make his presence felt. He’s been the only one keeping the games close to this point — though I do think their current results (and playing displays) are the result of underwhelming play. I think this is a good opportunity for a revitalized Saints squad to keep these 3 points at home.

Although Leicester City only comes into this match with three points, they have played fairly well. In their first match against United they were dominated in the opening minutes but seem to find their legs part way through the match, and with the introduction of Vardy — scored one goal to make United sweat. The game against Wolves was much less of a mystery as the Foxes were up by 2 goals, even with Vardy being sent off. The way the projects are setting up indicates that there is definitely the possibility of the Foxes walking away with something from this match, though at this point a draw seems far more likely than the Foxes walking away with all the points.
