Matchday 3: Watford v Crystal Palace

Watford vs. Crystal Palace
Location: Vicarage Road
This Watford side comes into the match as slight favorites; possibly because of being at home. The current projection is for 3 goals.
This Watford side has had a great run so far and I think they’ll enter on a high. They’ve been able to use Pereyra and turn into him a goal scoring machine so far. Their win this season over Brighton continues to look like a brilliant piece of work after that BHA side beat Man Utd and only lost to Liverpool today by a one goal margin. I think that Watford will come into wanting to get a third straight win to get even closer to securing a nice finish in the league. I think that as teams become increasingly familiar with how they’ve been playing this season, they will eventually find a way to lock down the midfield and limit Pereyra (and Hughes) touches as much as possible. And I think so far the strikers have underperformed and additional attention on the midfield should lead to some additional openings.
I think this Crystal Palace side comes into the season under respected. If you read my transfer notes on Crystal Palace, you already know that I think last season was at least somewhat an anomaly. Benteke seemed not to me able to do anything last season, both his assists and goals were down. Zaha has been the big man at the club, and much like Watford’s midfield, I think sides are going to make someone other than Zaha beat them. Unfortunately for most sides, Benteke is a worthy foe — I know I’ve projected him to score before, but I think it’s just a matter of time before the first one goes in… and then he has two seasons to make up for.
