2018 Fulham at Manchester United

Fulham at Manchester United, Dec 8: Manchester United’s Old Trafford will play host the away side, Fulham. And although Manchester United’s form has not been what they would like, they still find themselves in 8th. (UPDATED) Premier League – Week 15 Slate

As mentioned in our weekly Premier League Power Rankings, the league this week will be playing twice, with matches kicking off later tonight. Furthermore, the clubs that are still alive in various tournaments will be playing multiple times over the next three weeks. For example, league leader Manchester City plays twice this week, a Champions League match on 12 December, another league match on 15 December, and an EFL Cup match on 18 December. Fitness will be important for all the clubs as they approach the midway point of the season, and this could be a window where the top clubs continue to separate themselves from the rest of the pack.

As always, the number in parenthesis before each club reflects their spot on our Power Rankings, and we’ll try to keep this list updated as the week progresses. Home teams are listed first, and winners will be indicated in bold. In the event of a draw, both teams will be placed in italics.

Premier League Tuesday – Brighton & Hove Albion v Crystal Palace

Premier League Tuesday – BHA & Crystal Palace

This BHA and Crystal Palace game is expected to be far and away the most competitive matchup of the day. It’s also one between two teams would desperately like to start building up some points before the midway point of the season. They’d both love to go into the New Year with themselves in a good place in the table! It’s also a matchup between #9 and #15 in our Week 15 power rankings!

Brighton and Hove Albion (BHA)

Brighton come into this match in very reasonable form. In their last 6 games they have 3 wins, 1 draw, and two losses. Brighton have the 7th best home form in the table, though they’ve left a fair number of points on the board in road games. Although they have 6 losses on the season, 3 of them are to big six teams. They also added a memorable win over a Manchester United team that’s been poor. Brighton would love to take this opportunity to leapfrog Watford. While the Seagulls come in with a very winnable game, Watford faces Manchester City. Depending on other results tomorrow, Brighton could go as high as eighth but their goal differential would have to improve immensely.

In terms of the statistics, Brighton is markedly better at home than away. Brighton has managed a goal in every home game they’ve played as well as the last seven straight. At home the Seagulls are averaging 1.5 goals scored per game while conceding 1.17 goals per game. They’ve allowed a total of 7 goals against at home this season; 3 allowed in the first half and 4 in the second half. While their goal scoring is the opposite; 5 goals in the first half and 4 in the second.

Premier League – Week 15 Power Rankings

Note: Usually we publish the Championship Power Rankings first thing Monday morning, but they still have one match left this week. Also, Premier League clubs will be playing twice this week, with matches starting tomorrow,so they will get the lead position this week, with Championship rankings coming later in the week.

After this past weekend’s results, only four clubs remain in the same position that they were in last week’s Power Rankings. A few lower-ranked teams had unexpected results over higher-ranked opponents, but nothing so shocking that it caused chaos up and down the rankings.

As always, these rankings reflect performance in Premier League matches only, and are more about the week-to-week trends instead of the whole season picture. A club is rewarded more for victories against teams there weren’t expected to defeat and vice versa, with draws treated fairly neutral unless there is a massive ranking disparity.

With six clubs playing in European competitions this week – and in advance of a week where the clubs will play twice – some clubs will be playing four matches over 14 days. Will this impact performance this weekend, or will we see the tired legs at the end of next weekend?

As always, the number in parenthesis before each club reflects their spot on our weekly Power Rankings, and we’ll try to keep this list updated as the weekend progresses. Home teams are listed first, and winners will be indicated in bold. In the event of a draw, both teams will be placed in italics.

Premier League – Week 14 Power Rankings

After this past weekend’s results, the bulk of the movement in our Power Rankings is confined to the clubs toward the bottom of the table. Our top seven clubs align perfectly with the top seven in the league table, and only two matches this weekend will feature clubs from the top 7 facing off against each other.

As always, these rankings reflect performance in Premier League matches only, and are more about the week-to-week trends instead of the whole season picture. A club is rewarded more for victories against teams there weren’t expected to defeat and vice versa, with draws treated fairly neutral unless there is a massive ranking disparity.
