Premier League Week 27 Fixtures/Results

This week’s slate is really small, with six clubs – Brighton & Hove Albion, Crystal Palace, Manchester CityManchester United, Watford, and Wolverhampton Wanderers – participating in the FA Cup quarterfinals. Four others – Arsenal, Cardiff City, Southampton, and Tottenham Hotspur – are off because their scheduled opponent was one of those six clubs and they’ve already played the other available teams twice. Nevertheless, the week’s games will still be important, with some mid-table clubs facing off against each other in an attempt to move into the top 10 of the league.

As always, the number in parenthesis before each club reflects their spot on our Power Rankings, and we’ll try to keep this list updated as the week progresses. Home teams are listed first, and winners will be indicated in bold. In the event of a draw, both teams will be placed in italics.

Champions League – FC Bayern Munich v Liverpool – Round of 16

FC Bayern Munich v. Liverpool (Champions League Game) The first leg of this match fizzled out into a bore draw with neither side able to accomplish much. Premier League Week 25

It’s Matchdays 28 and 29 for the bulk of the Premier League this week (Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion will be playing 27 and 28), and each club will be playing twice this week. When the weekend is complete, we’ll have nine matches left, and chances are, the top six will be the top six when all is said and done on 12 May, with maybe only the order left to firm up.

As always, the number in parenthesis before each club reflects their spot on our Power Rankings, and we’ll try to keep this list updated as the week progresses. Home teams are listed first, and winners will be indicated in bold. In the event of a draw, both teams will be placed in italics.

Premier League Week 24

It’s Matchday 27 for the Premier League clubs playing this week, but we won’t have a full slate of matches this weekend. Everton and Manchester City played twice last week to reach 28 matches played already, and Chelsea will be playing Manchester City in the final of the EFL Cup on Saturday. Brighton & Hove Albion, Chelsea’s originally scheduled opponent for this weekend, gets another three days off before returning to action on Tuesday.

Nevertheless, it’s been 11 days since we’ve seen our last match in the league. For the clubs playing in non-league competitions, they’ve still been as busy, but for a lot of the league, it’s been a much needed break as we prepare to head down the home stretch of the season.

As always, the number in parenthesis before each club reflects their spot on our Power Rankings, and we’ll try to keep this list updated as the week progresses. Home teams are listed first, and winners will be indicated in bold. In the event of a draw, both teams will be placed in italics.

Premier League – Week 24 Power Rankings

When the Premier League resumes league play tomorrow, it will have been 11 days since the Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United drew at the conclusion of the last Premier League week. We didn’t update our rankings at the end of that week because we were busy trying to cover all the Champions League and Europa League matches, but we are back with a fresh set of rankings just in time for the return to action.

As always, these rankings try to only take into account the action that happens in league play, and relative placement is based on the caliber of the opponents from week-to-week and the results. If a lower club loses to a top club they aren’t punished as harshly, but the inverse may result in tumble down the rankings (if there’s room). And while the top half of the rankings nearly match the league table exactly, this won’t always be the case.
