EFL Championship – Week 15 Power Rankings

Week 14 in the Championship is in the books, and it went pretty much as expected. As such, the top six clubs remain in place from last week’s Power Rankings, and no team moved more than three spots up or down the rankings.

We are entering another week where the Championship will see each club play twice, so expect some movement in next week’s rankings, but for now, let’s take a look at how the clubs below the top six moved around this week. As always, these rankings are only based on the performance in league play.

Middlesbrough v. Stoke City

Middlesbrough had a midweek upset of the Premier Leagues’s Crystal Palace on Wednesday. They’ve also just had their next round draw which revealed a matchup against League One’s Burton Albion in the fifth round. Leading into today’s match, the biggest question for me revolves around if Boro can stay focused instead of looking ahead. According to the league table, 3rd-ranked Boro should bring the game to 14th-ranked Stoke City (In our current Championship Power Rankings we have Boro at #3 and Stoke at #15). Both sides enter the match with good recent form and will look to continue that today.

Despite their table positions, Boro enters Stoke City’s Bet365 Stadium as underdogs in a matchup that’s expected to be very low scoring. While favored, Stoke isn’t favored by much and all three outcomes are not markedly different from an odds perspective.

EFL Championship – Week 11 Power Rankings

Lots of upsets this weekend in the Championship, with eight of our top 12 teams losing to lower ranked teams. As such, there has been a lot of movement up and down these rankings from last week, with only four teams staying put.

There will be two games this week for each team, so expect some shakeups next week as well. As a reminder, these rankings are only for league play only, though only a handful of teams are still alive in the EFL Cup anyway. Those matches resume next week for Norwich City, Nottingham Forest, Derby County and new #1 Middlesbrough.

EFL Championship – Week 10 Power Rankings

After another international break across the top two tiers of English football this past weekend, both leagues will be back in action this upcoming week. We didn’t update these rankings last week after all of the Championship clubs played two matches, but the results from those matches caused all but one team to find themselves in a new spot this week.
As a reminder, these rankings are only for league play, and you can see how that is shaping up thus far in our latest look at promotion and relegation that we published last week.
